MARGAO: As many as four micro-containment zones has been notified by the South Goa district Collector, Ruchika Katyal, IAS in Canacona and Quepem talukas on Friday following detection of Covid cases in four houses.
After the detection of 24 Covid cases in three separate houses at Ambaulim, Xeldem and Shirvoi, the district magistrate has notified micro containment zones in these houses.
Similarly, after five cases were detected in a house at Qurem, Palolem, the district Collector has notified the house as a micro containment zone.
In separate orders issued under section 144 of the Cr P C, the Collector stated that certain areas are now vulnerable to Covid-19 being in close proximity to the epicenter.
As per the protocol in place, the authorities are now mandated to carry out host of Covid activities in the micro containment zones, including contact tracing and home or institutional quarantining of individuals based on risk assessment by medical officers.
This risk assessment will be based on symptoms, contact with confirmed cases, and travel history.
Testing will be undertaken of all cases with Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI), influenza-like illness (ILi) and other symptoms specified by MoHFW, besides house to house surveillance by special teams constituted for this purpose.
