77-foot Lord Rama statue set for grand unveiling as theme park work continues: Committee President

PANAJI: The 77-foot bronze idol of Lord Rama, touted as Asia’s tallest Rama statue, is fully ready for inauguration, marking a major milestone in the 550-year celebrations of Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math in Canacona. Work on the accompanying Rama Theme Park and Ram Museum is also underway.

Speaking at a press conference today, Committee President Shrinivas Dempo said, “This grand celebration reflects 550 years of spiritual service and cultural heritage, and we are deeply honoured that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the idol.”

PWD Minister and Committee member Digambar Kamat noted the scale of the preparations. “With the Prime Minister himself coming to bless this historic occasion, the Math’s long-standing contribution to society stands even more prominently recognised,” he said.

The celebrations will be held from November 27 to December 7, 2025, at Partagali Math in Canacona, coinciding with auspicious Margashirsha tithis. Organisers said the 11-day festival will feature a packed schedule of events, including daily havans, homas, Vedic rituals, satsangs, discourses, cultural evenings, health camps, and social outreach activities.

A Sneha Patra has been presented to the Mathadhipati of Shree Palimaru Math Shreemad Vidyadheesha Teerth Swamiji, Pattashishya Shreemad Vidya Varidhi Teerth Swamiji, and Shree Samsthan Gaudapadacharya Kavale Mathadhish Shreemad Shankarashram Swamiji. “Their presence will sanctify the occasion and offer spiritual strength to thousands of devotees,” the committee stated.

The Sardha Panchashatkot Shri Ram Nama Japa Abhiyan is nearing its spiritual milestone. “We are close to completing 550 crore Ram Naam chants, an extraordinary collective achievement by devotees across the country,” the committee said.

Thousands of devotees from across India and abroad are expected to visit Partagali. The committee added, “Partagali will witness a spiritual gathering like never before, especially with the Prime Minister’s presence.” Cultural programmes include performances by renowned artists such as Anup Jalota, Shankar Mahadevan, Maithili Thakur, and Mahesh Kale, with seating arranged for over ten thousand people.

For the first time in the Math’s history, a Bhajani Saptaah will be conducted from December 24 to 31, featuring nonstop bhajans. “This spiritually uplifting week coincides with the second anniversary of the Ram Mandir consecration in Ayodhya,” the committee noted.
