Adivasi Sangatna Kepem to host 2-day Tribal Festival

The Adivasi Sangatna Kepem in collaboration with Directorate of Art and Culture and Directorate of Tribal Welfare will organise its XIth edition of the two-day Tribal Festival on January 14 and 15 near Mother Tereza old-aged home at Copelabhat Deao, Quepem.
Social Welfare Minister Subash Phaldessai will be the chief guest at the inaugural function at 3 pm, while Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa, Director of Art and Culture Sagun Velip, QMC Chairperson Suchita Shirvoikar, Ambaulim Parish Priest Fr Carlisto Coelho, Rachol Sarpanch Joseph Vaz and local Councillor William Fernandes will be the other guests.
The festival aims to promote, protect tribal art, culture, handicraft and games which are on the decline. Different food stalls wherein different cuisine/food products of the tribals, their craft, will be displayed, exhibited and sold. There will be demos of different handicraft.
There will also be various traditional craft presentations like ‘Molla Vinop’, ‘San'n bandop’, ‘Nivoni’, ‘Fulla Fat Vinnap’ along with the traditional games. In the evening there will be a Tiatr ‘Tuka Zai Toxe’ where the annual souvenir ‘Amcho Ekvott’ will be released by PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral in presence of former Dy CM Babu Kavlekar, Xeldem ZP Member Sidharth Gauns Dessai, Ambaulim Sarpanch Devidas Deikar and local Councillor Lourdes Fernandes.
On January 15, the programmes will start at 9.30 am. In the morning session, there will be a presentation of fancy dress, drawing and dance. There will be tribal food and sweet dishes presentation at 12.30 pm, followed by Lok Utsav at 3 pm.
The prize distribution and closing ceremony will be held at 5.30 pm, which will be attended by Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao as chief guest, while Cortalim MLA Antonio Vas, Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa, Assolda Sarpanch Custodio Fernandes and Sao Jose de Areal Sarpanch Joycee Dias will be the other guests.
