Aided primary schools to get new scheme by December

MARGAO

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday assured the management of aided primary schools that the government would unveil a new scheme for funding of these schools by December.

He also assured the aided primary school managements that the government would clear the pending dues by December.

“The aided primary schools were paid Rs 400 per student under a scheme which has been discontinued. Many questions were raised by these aided schools. Now, the government is coming with a scheme for providing direct grant to these aided primary schools. This scheme will be unveiled by December this year. The managements of these aided primary schools will also receive the pending arrears by December”, he assured.

Saying the government is providing funds to run government primary schools, the chief minister underlined the need for parents and teachers to know about the funds and its utilization.

“I should not receive complaints that schools have no sanitation or the toilets are not maintained. We are not only providing funds for the maintenance, but make payments for manpower”, he added.
