3 held for kidnapping, demanding ransom from Ribandar youth

The Old Goa police arrested three persons on charges of kidnapping, threatening to kill and demanding ransom from a youth from Ribandar.

The Old Goa police informed that the three accused namely Bijendra Prasad (21) from Porvorim, Aman Nadaf (19) and Ranji Chauhan (21), both from Taleigao, allegedly abducted the victim, Pappu Gupta (19) at Banastarim on Friday night.

“Later, they took him in a vehicle to Ribandar and demanded an amount of Rs 1 lakh from him. As the victim said he did not have the money, they then took him to Taleigao and allegedly coughed up around Rs 4,000 from him, before letting him go,” the police said.

The victim immediately filed a complaint with the Old Goa police and within two hours of the complaint, the police were able to identify the accused, who were later placed under arrest.

Further investigation is conducted by Old Goa PSI Viraj Dhawaskar.
