In a fresh bout of trouble for Edwin Nunes, the Anjuna police on Saturday registered an offence for allegedly faking Covid-19 test results to avoid arrest by Hyderabad police.

A First Information Report (FIR) is registered under sections 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (fraudulently or dishonestly uses as genuine any document or electronic record which he knows or has reason to believe to be forged) of the Indian Penal Code against him.

The Goan was the only Daily to report on September 22, that Nunes claimed he was down with Covid-19 while the Hyderabad police began a search for him in Goa pertaining to drugs investigation back in its State.

Police sources told The Goan that Nunes produced a Covid-19 test report that states he was "positive for the virus" but an independent inquiry exposed him.

As per details, the private laboratory where the Anjuna local got his Covid-19 tested on September 20, confirmed he was Negative for the virus. The report dated September 21 was however forged by the alleged accused and submitted to the Anjuna police. "We conducted an inquiry and found he faked the Covid-19 report. As such we registered an offence," the cop said.

Nunes is now wanted in two cases, one in Hyderabad and the second in the FIR by Anjuna police.
