A group of villagers affected by the alignment of the new Borim bridge on Thursday placed their demands, including avoiding the demolition of some houses and saving the 'khazan fields' which are affected, before officials of the Public Works Department.
Newly inducted Minister for Environment, Aleixo Sequeira, who facilitated the meeting, said that the discussion was held with the consultants and PWD Principal Chief Engineer Uttam Parsekar.
"The demand to ensure minimal damage is caused to the khazan fields and also the least number of houses. They (PWD officials and consultants) have said they will do a ground survey to see how best the demands can be fulfilled," Sequeira said, adding that the next meeting will be held on December 11.
