BELAGAVI
As Covid continues to grip the nation, a hospital in Belagavi which was one of the first centres to conduct tests for the indigenous Covaxin has now successfully conducted another clinical trial.
Jeevan Rekha Hospital in Belagavi has successfully conducted the first-phase clinical trials of the country's second indigenously-developed ZyCoV-D vaccine.
The test was conducted on 20 children between the age of 12 and18 years who had volunteered themselves for the test.
According to hospital authorities, parents of these children had brought them voluntarily to undergo the clinical trials. The audio and video of parents permitting the hospital to administer the dose on their children has been taken.
“It’s two months since we have conducted the clinical trials. All these children who have undergone the clinical trial are fine. None of them having the vaccine side effects or any other health complications,” Dr Amit Bhate, Director of Jeevan Rekha Hospital, told media persons.
The same hospital was also one of the 12 centres in the country where Covaxin clinical trials took place successfully last year.
