Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho has stated that a growing number of people from the Christian community and minorities have been joining the BJP.
He was speaking after welcoming Bogmalo Panch Cynthia Rodrigues and her supporters into the BJP on Friday evening, in the presence of BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade.
Godinho said the BJP will continue its mission of serving the people and fostering progress in every corner of the nation with determination and solidarity.
"I had assured there would be a big revolution from Dabolim and things are moving in that direction. We have seen for the first time that people from the Christian community and minority have come forward to join the BJP,” said Godinho.
“People in Bigmalo have decided to get Pallavi Dempo elected with a huge margin as a return gift for the huge development works undertaken in Bogmalo.”
Describing Cynthia Rodrigues as one of the strongest leaders of Bogmalo who enjoys the support of residents in Bogmalo, Godinho said some people had instigated them against the BJP but things have changed and they have now joined the BJP.
Tanavade said the winds of change for South Goa would begin from his Dabolim constituency.
"Last time I came here, Mauvin got Anacleto D’Souza, who was then Congress block president, into the BJP along with his supporters. This time, we have managed to get a very strong panch Cynthia Rodrigues and her supporters into the BJP,” said Tanavade.
“The minority force has now joined the BJP in large numbers and Cynthia Rodrigues is one of the strongest leaders from the Bogmalo area, who has joined the BJP to make us even stronger.”
Panch Cynthia Rodrigues said she was the only panch in Bogmalo Panchayat who was not a part of the Mauvin-backed panel.
“However, I was never discriminated against and development works were taken in my ward as well despite me being the lone opposition panch. I have decided to return the favour by joining the BJP and making Mauvin Godinho even stronger,” said Rodrigues.
