PANAJI
Tamil Nadu Member of Parliament and Congress' Goa desk in-charge Manickam Tagore, currently in Goa to review the preparedness for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, has called upon political parties that have disagreements with the BJP to unite with the Congress. The senior leaders also subtly criticised the BJP for their role in the current state of affairs, particularly for remaining a mute spectator over Manipur violence.Tagore expressed his concerns about the Narendra Modi government’s passive approach towards the situation in Manipur. Speaking to reporters after presiding over the party’s State executive committee meeting in Panaji on Thursday, he emphasised that at the national-level, opposition parties have come together to fight the BJP, and urged parties in the State that differ from the BJP to join the alliance as well. The meeting was attended by the MLAs and party leaders.
Asserting their commitment to removing BJP-led governments from power, Tagore accused the Goa government of being corrupt, exploiting Goa, and causing damage to its environment and natural beauty.
The senior leader, who was in Goa for the same purpose earlier this year as well, also assessed the party's overall functioning in the State and preparations for the upcoming assembly session.
