Cops register case of murder against group for death of man

PORVORIM

Acting on court orders, the Porvorim police have registered the complaint against a group of persons on charges of having murdered a man from Malim.

Melcy Pinto, daughter of late Felicio Nicolau Pinto, had filed a complaint with Porvorim Police station stating that on January 2, 2022 between 10 pm and 11.30 pm, the accused “ Liao Gabriel Vaz, Flasten Martins, Esabel Rego and other family members “ had allegedly trespassed into her house on account of previous enmity over ancestral property.

She alleged that the accused had assaulted her father, Felicio Nicolau Pinto (59) with blunt objects causing him injuries on the face and head. He died while being taken to GMC hospital at Bambolim.

Melcy further alleged that the accused had also destroyed the evidence by shifting her injured father from the place of assault to the balcony of the house.

The case was initially registered as an unnatural death on January 2, 2022 and it was closed as a case of an accident fall.

Melcy later filed a written complaint and accused her neighbour in the murder of her father. When her complaint was not registered, she filed a complaint before the JMFC Mapusa u/s 156(3) CrPC and the court gave a direction to register the death as murder.

A revision petition was filed before the Sessions Court and the court also directed the Porvorim police to register an offence as per the complaint filed by the daughter of the deceased.

Acting on the court orders, Porvorim police registered a case against the accused under Sections 448, 302, 201 read with 34 of Indian penal code.
