Chief Minister Pramod Sawant credited the progress Goa has made in its sixty years since liberation to "successive governments" all through since 1961 in his Liberation Day Parade speech in the capital city on Sunday morning."Successive governments, all through 1961, have contributed their best to ensure the development path and see Goa where it is today," Sawant said, adding that every decision of his government is in the interest of the State.
“My government takes all decisions in the interest of the State and its people irrespective of caste and religion. My government believes in Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas,” he said.
The chief minister also said that the State has stood strong holding on to its culture and heritage even in hard times.
On this historic day which was to be marked by the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to arrive a few hours after his speech, Sawant dedicated a portion of it to express gratitude saying: “With your (PM's) continued support, Goa will continue to flourish and achieve new heights in development, CM said.”
The chief minister also appealed to the people of Goa to work unitedly towards the betterment of the State through his government's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Swayampurna Goa' initiatives.
He also urged dedication to keep Goa clean, green and a sustainable peace-loving State to ensure development in all areas.
