Hyderabad tourists fined Rs 10,000 for littering at Miramar

The local authorities have begun to act tough against the tourists littering public places. On Monday, the Panaji police imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on a group of Hyderabad (Telangana) tourists who were caught dumping trash on the roadside near the Goa Science Centre and drinking liquor in public places. 

The tourists had arrived in a tourist bus, which was parked at Miramar. 

Sources said the tourists were also made to clear the garbage.  

The Tourism Department, on October 31, 2022 had issued an order banning several activities such as cooking and drinking in the open, illegal hawking, touting, begging, etc terming it as a nuisance. A fine of up to Rs 50,000 will be imposed on the violators.
