Railway ticketing case: Probe reveals accused were selling fake tickets for 8 yrs

Investigations conducted by the Railway Protection Force into the fake railway ticketing case has revealed that the accused were allegedly carrying out the crime over the last 7-8 years.

The two accused arrested in the case, Hansaraj and Tajauddin have been remanded to three days police custody by the local court.

RPF Investigating Officer, Vinod Mishra told the media on Monday that the RPF had seized railway tickets worth around Rs 3.20 lakh from the office of the travel and ticketing office. He alleged that the accused were involved in booking the railway tickets with false user IDs and selling the tickets to the passengers at a premium. 

“During investigations, the accused has said they have been involved in this activity for the last 7-8 years. We are investigating further in the case,” he said.

Mishra further informed that the RPF has moved the Railways to block the tickets which were booked with fake user IDs by the accused.
