An injured crocodile was rescued after being spotted on the Shirgao road at Poira.
Animal Rescue Squad President Amrut Singh said the crocodile was later handed over to the forest department office at Keri.
Singh said the 10-and-half foot crocodile was found injured and may have be starving for several days.
“The crocodile was found on the Shirgao road, which is near a wasteland. It is not right to injure wild animals in such a way. It’s jaw was injured and it was starving for a long time, so it looked weak. The crocodile needs medical treatment,” said Singh.
Amrit Singh, Durgesh Singh Vishal Shirodkar, Vipul Palani and Vinay Parrikar later handed over the crocodile to the forest department office at Keri.
