Junta House Reconstruction: Government departments allotted alternate sites but yet to complete shift

Project still at preliminary stage, CM tells Assembly

PANAJI
Most government departments currently housed in the ageing Junta House complex ” already ordered to be demolished ” are proposed to be shifted to vacant government flats in Altinho and Bhatlem, though the relocation is yet to take place.
Responding to an unstarred question tabled by MLA Cruz Silva, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the project for its reconstruction was still at a preliminary stage, with a total estimated cost of Rs 139.46 crore.
Several offices, he said, had not shifted due to ongoing repair works or inadequate space at the alternate premises.
Only two offices ” the Dy Conservator of Forest (Wildlife & Eco-Tourism) and the Registration Department ” have completed the move. The Goa Khadi and Village Industries Board also relocated through its own arrangements.
A total of 14 offices have been allotted government quarters or alternative locations. The government has not provided a timeline for when all departments will be vacated to allow the new building to begin construction.
