OLD GOA
The Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) has submitted the Land Protection and Conservation Bill, 2023 to the secretary of the Goa Legislative Assembly so that the same could be tabled in the forthcoming monsoon Assembly session.
Speaking to reporters in Panaji on Thursday, MLA Viresh Borkar informed that an ordinary Goan cannot buy land as the prices are out of reach.
“In this Bill, we have sought to protect Goa’s land for Goans as rich outsiders are usurping our land by paying very high rates,” the MLA said while stating the Bill was submitted to the Secretary of Goa Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.
“Land protection is a State subject and many parties are protecting Goa’s land. These parties should support the Bill when the same is introduced in the Assembly,” Borkar added and informed that cut-off date for an agriculturist is set at December 20, 1961 or 50 years.
Borkar further said that the party would also move two resolutions which include demolition of illegal scrapyards and demolition of illegal slums.
“Illegal scrapyards have been setup in comunidade land and needs to be demolished, not legalized. Also, the illegal slums that have mushroomed in the State also needs to be demolished,” he informed.
Meanwhile, speaking on the status of the POGO Bill, RGP president Manoj Parab said that the same has been deferred as per the information received under RTI.
“The POGO Bill has not been rejected but it has been deferred which means it has been postponed and we are going to pursue the Bill,” Parab said.
