Micro-blogging site Twitter was splashed with messages and greetings to Goans from National political leaders on Liberation Day.
The country's president, Ram Nath Kovind, vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee were among those who took to Twitter to greet Goans.
Kovind made it a point to recall his visit las year to kick-start the year-long Goa@60 celebrations saying: "I will forever cherish the memories of Goa@60 celebrations I attended last year."
He also said, the nation pays homage to martyrs and freedom fighters who fought to liberate Goa from colonial rule.
Banerjee, apart from the greetings and homage to freedom fighters, also laced her message with political overtones.
Banerjee, who's TMC is making a late but flashy foray in Goa's electoral arena, said: "On this momentous occasion, come let us pledge to usher in a New Dawn for our beautiful State."

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi restricted his tweet to Liberation Day greetings and homage to martyrs and the army.
"My wishes to the people of Goa on their Liberation Day. We Salute the soldiers and martyrs who defeated the Portuguese during Operation Vijay (1961) to set Goa free," Gandhi said in his tweet.
Naidu and Shah too restricted their messages to liberation day greetings and homage to freedom fighters and martyrs.
