Parents to be booked for minor's crime: Vasco PI

VASCO

Vasco PI Kapil Nayak has sent out a strong message to parents and vehicle owners that they will be booked for any crimes committed by minor children.

"It is sad that we have had two fatal accidents within 20 days and in both cases, two innocent women lost their lives for no fault and in both cases, the vehicles were driven by minors without valid licence,” said PI Nayak.

“I want to make it absolutely clear that Vasco police will not take such cases lightly and we will take most stringent action as per law in such cases. We cannot say that these are accidents when the drivers very well know that they have no licence and are still driving in a rash and negligent manner and can cause the death of innocent people," said PI Nayak.

"If any minor is found riding or driving vehicles without valid licence, they will be booked under relevant section of 336 IPC for endangering human life along with the parents and the owners of the vehicle, whoever may be responsible. We have begun registering cases under Section 304 IPC of culpable homicide not amounting to murder in such instances.”

"Parents and vehicles owners must be careful and vigilant as they can become equally responsible for the crimes committed by minor children. Vasco police can also book them (parents or owner of vehicle) in similar sections for crimes committed by their children because the children are being given bikes despite knowing that they don't have driving licences," PI Nayak added.
