Pipeline repairs disrupt water supply in Salcete coastal belt

Laying of new line affects supply for two days

MARGAO
The PWD water supply department has informed that villages along the Salcete coastal belt”Cavelossim, Carmona, Orlim, Varca, Benaulim, Colva, and Seraulim”will experience reduced water supply on Monday and Tuesday due to the laying of a new 1200 mm diameter MS pipeline.

The department stated that the laying of the new 1200 mm diameter MS pipeline is currently underway at Gogol, Margao. However, during the execution of this work, the existing 300 mm diameter AC pipeline, which belongs to WD-IX, was damaged.

It was further informed that the 300 mm diameter tapping valve has developed a mechanical fault and cannot be closed. “To facilitate repairs to the damaged AC pipeline, the Salaulim Main Trunk pipeline (160 MLD) has been throttled from 59 rounds to 10 rounds, as requested by WD-IX,” the department said.

As a result, the villages of Cavelossim, Carmona, Orlim, Varca, Benaulim, Colva, and Seraulim will experience reduced water supply on Monday and Tuesday.
