In a hit-and-run case at Cuncolim, a 50-year-old pedestrian died after he was allegedly hit by a vehicle on Monday.
The body of the deceased was found lying on the roadside at Demani and was later identified as Sandeep Naik, a resident of Pairaband-Cuncolim.
DySP Sidhanth Shirodkar informed that the post-mortem examination certified the cause of death as damage to the head and chest due to blunt force impact, indicating that the deceased was hit by an unknown vehicle.
The police said the viscera has been preserved for chemical analysis, adding that materials have also been preserved for serology examination. A molar tooth has been preserved for DNA profiling.
The deceased's body was later handed over for the final rites.
