The Fatorda police have arrested two residents of Pune, Maharashtra, for allegedly impersonating government officers to book a guest room at the Government Circuit House, Monte Hill, Margao.
The police acted on a complaint from Sanjit Kachhua, who works at the government guest house, Monte Hill. He alleged that the two accused, Deepak Gaikwad and his associate Ramraje Sahebrao Shinde, visited the guest house on Sunday evening and falsely claimed to be government officers from the Jeevan Help Council under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India.
The duo allegedly attempted to deceive the complainant by using a fake ID without following the mandatory procedure of obtaining a booking letter from the competent authority required for reserving a guest room at the government guest house (Circuit House).
Following the complaint, the police arrested the accused under Section 319(2) r/w 3(5) BNS 2023.
