St Estevam local held on drugs charges

PONDA: Mardol Police have arrested Malcolm D’Souza (32) of St Estevam on charges of possessing drugs valued at Rs 26,400 near the college ground at Khandola“Marcela.

According to Mardol Police, the accused was found walking near the ground early Sunday morning and on suspicion, police carried out a search and found 264 grams of ganja in his possession.

He has been arrested in this connection and PSI Sushant Sangodkar is investigating the case under the guidance of Police Inspector Yogesh Sawant.

Liquor seized at Mollem check post

PONDA: Officials of Sanguem excise office have have seized liquor worth Rs 4,379 which was illegally being transported in a bus at the Mollem check post on Sunday night.An unknown passenger tried to take the liquor in the bus from Goa to Karnataka. When officials of the Excise Department carried out search at Mollem check post at around 8.15 pm they found a bag containing the liquor.The liquor was seized and investigations are in progress.
