Alleging that teachers with certificates from unrecognised universities had been recruited at some aided schools, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai demanded that the State government set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter.
Raising the issue in the Assembly, Sardesai alleged that a politician who had shifted from the Congress to BJP had been responsible for all these irregularities.
Sardesai also alleged that permissions to schools had been given during the Covid pandemic without a feasibility study by the ADEIs, adding that the assistant directors of education had allegedly given permission to three schools without any feasibility report.
He also claimed that grants had been given to schools that did not exist.
Commenting on the government’s policy towards aviation, Sardesai feared that no Goan would be employed at the Mopa International airport under construction as the contractor was from another state.
Sardesai accused the government of having failed to protect local artisans and also pointed out to pending policy projects such as IT parks, Tuem electronic city and the Dona Paula IT habitat.
He added that the power distribution system haf collapsed in the State due to lack of maintenance.
