Mapusa Police arrested two persons on charges of stealing construction items worth Rs 2 lakh on Wednesday. Both accused who are natives of West Bengal -- Ujjwal Biswas (24) presently residing at Duler, Mapusa and Premkumar Pal (30) residing in Anjuna -- were nabbed for stealing metal centering plates from a godown in Duler, Mapusa.
According to complainant Viresh Nandkarni, some unknown person stole the metal centering plates from his godown situated in Duler between July 10 and 12.
The complainant said some unknown persons came in a mini tempo and broke open the latch of the godown and decamped with the goods worth Rs 2 lakh.
During the investigation, police zeroed upon the two accused and nabbed them.
The stolen property which was hidden at a site in Anjuna was recovered from the accused and attached under the panchanama. Two mini tempos which were used to commit the crime have also been attached.
PSI Ashish Porob is conducting further investigation.
