VASCO
Mapusa BJP MLA Joshua D’Souza has assured to address on top priority public resentment over the mandatory NOC by the Navy on constructions in a wide area around the Dabolim airport.
Speaking in the matter, D'Souza said he had been informed about the matter by former MPDA Chairman Clafasio Dias and former Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, who was his late father's good friend.
"This is a major issue which has already been taken for discussion in the assembly by Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane,” said D’Souza.
“We have to understand there are certain restrictions considering Dabolim as a defence airport, but Rane has assured to have a dialogue with the civil aviation and defence ministries to resolve the issue on priority.”
“My view is that there may be issues but it should not cause inconvenience to people, especially for people struggling to save and build a house,” said D’Souza.
The MPDA chairperson said he would try and find an amicable solution as soon as possible, because having a buffer zone for a small area like Vasco could create problems for the livelihoods of many in the area.
“We will arrive at a middle ground and jointly find a holistic solution on this issue on priority," said D’Souza.
