Chief Minister Pramod Sawant urged Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray to refrain from singling out states as ‘Places of sensitive origin’ and to withdraw the order issued by his government.
“Covid 19 is a global pandemic. Let us put up a combined fight against this pandemic under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. I urge Maharashtra CM not to single out states as ‘Places of Sensitive Origin’, and withdraw the said order in public interest,” Sawant’s official Twitter handle posted.
Maharashtra government on Sunday issued an order declaring six states of Goa, Kerala, Gujarat, Delhi and NCR region, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand as ‘places of sensitive origin’ with the aim of stopping the influx of Covid 19 variants into the state. Accordingly, passengers travelling to Maharashtra from these six are required to possess an RT-PCR negative test within 48 hours of their train travel. Those travelling without such a document will have to undergo a rapid antigen test at the station. The rules imposed on air travel will continue to remain in force parallelly.
