With the Pramod Sawant-led government again opting to hold a short, 5-day affair for the budget session of the Goa legislative assembly starting March 27, Opposition Leader Yuri Alemao slammed the ruling party calling it "completely insensitive".
Alemao, who had led the Opposition in censuring the government for cutting down on legislative business days of the winter session held in mid-January, said usually it is the government which listens to the people but in this case it is the reverse.
"This government has become completely insensitive. They want people to listen to them. Ideally in democracy, Government listens to the people," Alemao told The Goan.
The Opposition leader was however satisfied that a Friday, usually dedicated to 'private member's business' is among the business days.
"This time they have included Friday which will give us some opportunity to raise issues under Private Members Business," Alemao said, adding however that he hoped government and other business is not listed on that day.
During the mid-January winter session, Friday was not included and 'private member's business' was entirely eliminated from the agenda becoming a major bone of contention in the confrontation between the government and the Opposition.
