Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Wednesday said he would place a proposal with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to establish a direct flight and rail connectivity between Goa and Ayodhya for the maximum benefit of the Goans.

Amonkar was speaking to reporters after the distribution of Rama Janmabhoomi Mandir Pranapratistha Mahotsava Akshata that has arrived from Ayodhya to many households at Sada, in the presence of his wife and councillor Shraddha Amonkar, BJP observers Jayant Jadhav, Santosh Kerkar and other residents.

"While the Ram Mandir is being inaugurated in Ayodhya on January 22, an airport also has been built at Ayodhya so that maximum people from across the country can visit the temple. We will place a proposal before the CM to speak with the Civil Aviation Ministry and get a direct flight connection between Dabolim airport and Ayodhya," said Amonkar.

"We don't have a direct connection between Goa and Ayodhya, hence, we will place a proposal to the CM to establish a direct connection between Goa and Ayodhya from either the Konkan Railway or South Western Railway.”

Amonkar said he also planned to put in a proposal to introduce Ayodhya as one of the destinations for the CM Dev Darshan Yojana.

"We have a special initiative taken by CM Pramod Sawant where senior citizens can visit holy places. While we have destinations like Tirupati, Vailankanni, Ajmer Sharif and other pilgrimage centres, we will request the CM to add Ayodhya as one of the destinations so that maximum senior citizens who have been waiting for so long can visit the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya," said Amonkar.
