MAPUSA: In addition to its wastewater projects, GSPCB has launched massive afforestation drives in Goa’s industrial estates. In celebration of World Environment Day, the "Green Verna" and "Green Cuncolim" initiatives were rolled out on June 5.
As part of these programmes, more than 3,000 saplings were planted in Cuncolim alone. “A follow-up conducted recently revealed a remarkable 99% survival rate of these plants,” said Mahesh Patil, Chairman of GSPCB.
The board has implemented an innovative irrigation system using sprinklers fed with wastewater from fish processing units. This approach not only ensures lush green coverage but also puts excess wastewater to constructive use.
