About 17,082 fresh Class XII students will appear for the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) examination, which is scheduled to begin on February 10 for the general stream and February 11 for the vocational stream.
According to data available from the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE), a total of 17,082 regular candidates-comprising 9,151 girls and 7,931 boys- have registered for the HSSC examination for the academic year 2025-26. This marks a marginal decline compared to the 2025 board examinations, when 17,751 regular candidates had registered.
Among the streams, Science has the highest number of candidates at 5,436, followed by Commerce with 5,009 students. The Arts stream accounts for 4,199 candidates, while 2,438 students have registered under the vocational stream.
As per the HSSC timetable, the examinations will commence on February 10 with the English paper. On February 12, students will appear for Accountancy, History and Physics. The Biology, Economics and Geology papers are scheduled for February 14, followed by Mathematics and Sociology on February 17. The Konkani and Sanskrit papers will be held on February 18, while Marathi is scheduled for February 19.
The Chemistry paper will be conducted on February 20, followed by Hindi on February 21. Psychology is scheduled for February 25, Banking on February 26 and Geography on February 27.
For the vocational stream, the examinations will begin on February 11 with the English Communication Skills paper.
