408 kg of meat from Delhi seized in Margao, destroyed
Meat seized by the FDA officials on Thursday while it was being transported by vehicles from the Margao railway station.

Around 408 kilograms of meat which was transported from Delhi by train to Margao was detained by officials of the Food and Drugs Administration and later ordered to be destroyed.

The early morning inspection drive conducted near Margao Railway Station by officials of the Food and Drugs Administration saw FDA officials under the guidance of Designated Officer Sanjyot Kudalkar ( South Goa) conducting a check for  various food items being transported by the trains.

An Omni vehicle was carrying meat transported from Delhi by train to the Margao station was intercepted by the FDA officials.

Officials said that the train carrying meat had departed from Delhi at 8 am on October 07, 2026 and arrived at the Margao station at 8 am on October 08 and was on the platform.

As the meat was being transported by Omni for distribution to retail dealer in Margao, the officials detained  the meat consignment weighing about 58 kgs worth Rs 26100.

Another Mahindra carrier vehicle carrying five boxes containing 350 kgs of meat valued around Rs 1.57 lakh was also detained by the team.

Officials who participated in the said drive were Designated Officer Sanjyot Kudalkar, Sr FSOs Madhav, Priya, FSOs  Amardeep, FDA staff Gauresh & Dumin.
