Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza said the government is exploring the idea of setting up an international yoga centre in Goa.
“We had a discussion with Baba Ramdev and he has agreed to the idea. But factors like where to do it, when to do it have to be discussed. It is not as easy as it looks”, said D’Souza adding, “What I feel is Goa should have a centre of this kind as it draws thousands of tourists. They should get an opportunity to visit the Yoga centre and attend classes. If this happens, I feel more and more quality tourists will visit Goa”, he said.
D’Souza said, “Yoga is India’s contribution to the world. Yogasanas are scientific and they synchronise mind, body and soul. Yoga is the best preventive measure to keep diseases away.”
Explaining the importance of Yoga, Dr Rajendra Kanekar said today it forms an important part of rehabilitation programme.
