1 Covid death, 39 fresh cases recorded

One Covid-related death was recorded in the mortality bulletin of the state on Friday. The total Covid victim count of the state now stands at 777. 

The deceased person is a 72 year-old woman from Ponda who passed away at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.

Meanwhile, the number of new cases detected on a single day dropped to a mere 39 from among the 1,570 samples tested in the last 24 hours. 

With this, the total confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Goa stand at 54,452 of which 52,780 have recovered while 595 are presently active. The recovery rate currently stands at 96.93 per cent. 

Vaccination figures

The Health Department successfully administered the Covid vaccine to 1,558 Health Care Workers (HCWs) and Front Line Workers (FLWs) across the State on Friday, the last day of Phase I of the national vaccination drive. 

Of the 1,558 persons, 846 were HCWs and 712 were FLWs. However, a total of 3,600 HCWs and 2,100 FLWs were registered on the Co-WIN portal to receive the vaccine reflecting a poor turnout even as the first phase of vaccination concluded on Friday.
