According to reports, a complaint was filed by Bicholim Traffic PI Vijay Rane at Bicholim police station accusing Santosh Kudchirkar of abusing and assaulting Traffic PSI Putulo Gad and Constable Ujwal Halarnkar, when they stopped him while he was proceeding from Bicholim to Nanora on his motorcycle (GA-04-K-7896) without wearing a helmet.

The police are reported to have asked for his documents and claimed that the accused became furious and started abusing the police.

On realising that the suspect is under the influence of alcohol, police conducted an alcometer test and claimed to have found the suspect heavily drunk.

They later told the accused to go away and to come back with the vehicle documents and a license holder to take his motorbike.

The police claimed that the accused went on abusing them even after he returned with the documents.

The verbal arguments led to the accused manhandling the officer.

Kudchirkar is alleged to have grabbed the officer’s uniform and badge, broken the name plate and punched him on the chest.

The accused was also accused of picking a big stone to strike the PSI.

However, police constable Halarnkar and another person present overpowered him.
