While the nationwide launch of the Covid vaccine is scheduled on Saturday, 100 staff and health workers associated with the Chicalim Sub District Hospital (SDH) will be among the first to receive the dose of the Covid vaccine.
When contacted, a doctor at Chicalim SDH confirmed to The Goan that the staff and other health workers will be vaccinated first at the hospital.
“We are going to start the vaccination at the Chicalim SDH on Saturday. Every hospital has been allotted 100 vaccines and we will be using the vaccines on our staff along with the health workers associated with the hospital.”
“We will start the vaccination after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation. We will start by 10 am and the programme may continue till evening. The timing to administer the vaccination is from 9 am to 5 pm. The list will come from the DHS and we will start taking data and inform people on the list. We will then call them to the Chicalim SDH for vaccination,” said the doctor.
The State has received 23,500 doses of the Covid vaccine and a total of seven session sites in Goa will participate on Saturday, wherein 100 healthcare worker beneficiaries will be vaccinated at Government hospitals of Goa Medical College (Bambolim), North Goa District Hospital (Mapusa), Hospicio Hospital (Margao), Sub District Hospital (Ponda), Sub District Hospital (Chicalim) and in two private Hospitals, Manipal Hospital (Dona Paula) and Healthway Hospital (Old Goa), as directed by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (GoI).
