The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) on Thursday issued final demolition notices to 100 controversial structures at Katem-Baina beach, through the office of Mamlatdar Mormugao.
The order stated that GCZMA in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 5 of Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, “directs to demolish the illegal hutments/structures identified at Baina beach and restore the land to its original condition within 15 days from the date of receipt of this order, failing which the Deputy Collector and SDO Mormugao, to verify if the said illegal hutments/structures are demolished.”
“In the event it is not removed as per directives, the Deputy Collector and SDO Mormugao Vasco-da-Gama shall remove the said structures within two weeks and recover the expenses incurred from the owners of the illegal hutments/structures as arrears of land revenue.”
GCZMA directed the Deputy Collector and SDO Mormugao to submit the compliance report within the next three days from the expiry of the 15-day time period.
