10,875 students apply for 1st round of general stream admissions: DHE

The directorate of higher education (DHE) has received almost 10,875 applications for admissions in the first-year degree programme in the general stream, during the first round of admission for the academic year 2025-26, which concluded last week.

DHE Deputy Director Mahadev Gawas said that all 40 colleges will declare the merit list next week. He said that the students who fail to get admission in the first round will have an opportunity during the second round under general stream.

Gawas said that around 40 colleges across the state are participating in the admission process, offering more than 30 undergraduate programmes.

He said that students seeking admission to the BA LLB programme will answer the GU-CLAT 2025 examination, on May 11, 2025.

Also, the applicants whose Class XII results are yet to be declared are also eligible to apply, he said.

Admissions are open for UG programmes such as BA, BCom, BSc, music, theatre, home science, BVoc, BCA, BBA, BA BEd, BSc BEd, BPEd, BA LLB, and BSc agriculture.
