Porvorim Police raided a hotel and arrested 12 persons on charges of running an illegal online cricket betting racket. Laptops, 10 mobile phones and routers worth Rs 2 lakh have been seized from the accused.
The police received information that some persons were running an illegal online cricket betting by accepting bets from public on the T20 match between New Zealand and UAE. A police team raided a room at a hotel at Porvorim and caught 12 persons red-handed while they were accepting bets.
The accused persons have been identified as Sanjay Subba of New Delhi, Karan Rajesh Patil of Akola-Maharashtra, Naveen Batra of Raipur-Chattisgarh, Varinder Singh of Bilaspur-Chattisgarh, Amit More of Akola-Maharashtra, Ankit Kumar of Dhanbad-Jharkhand, Suraj Nagdev of Raipur-Chattisgarh, Kishan Poptani of Jaipur-Chattisgarh, Tilesh Kumar Kurrey of Rakja Sakti-Chattisgarh, Shrey Sharma of Raipur-Chattisgarh, Ashish Mantry of Jaipur-Rajasthan and Ritesh Jaiswal of West Delhi.
The entire raid was conducted under the supervision of North SP North Nidhin Valsan, SDPO Porvorim Vishwesh Karpe and Police Inspector Sachin Yadav.
