Around 15 passengers of a Canacona-bound bus sustained injuries, three of them seriously, after it hit an oncoming heavy-duty truck head-on on the national highway at Balli on Saturday morning.
Three of the 15 injured persons, including the bus driver and a husband-wife duo, sustained grievous injuries in the accident.
Cuncolim police informed that the head-on collision took place on Saturday morning, leaving around 15 injured.
As many as four ambulances from Assolna, Navelim, Balli and Quepem were mobilised by the health department to transport the injured to the Primary Health Centre at Balli. While 10 of the injured were shifted to Hospicio, the remaining five were administered treatment at Balli.
Sources said the bus driver and a husband-wife couple (Amrut and Archana Phadte) sustained head injuries in the accident.
District Police Chief SP Arvind Gawas informed that the accident occurred when the truck, which was coming towards Margao, was probably trying to overtake a vehicle.
