Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Rajiv Kumar Gupta has advised the new forest guards to establish good relations with the locals while working in the areas where they are posted.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the convocation ceremony after 18 forest guards joined the government service and completed their six-month training period.
The programme was organised at the Goa State Forest Research and Training Center in Valpoi and others present at the ceremony included Chief Conservator of Forest Praveen Raghav, Goa State Forest Research and Training Center Director and Dy Conservator of Forests Tejaswini Pusulari, Assistant Conservator of Forests Chodankar and Goa State Forest Research and Training Center Principal Vishwanath Pingulkar.
Gupta also instructed the new forest guards to consider the environment as an integral part of their lives while working in the forest department.
“It is equally important to establish good relations with the local people while working in the areas where forest guards are to be posted,” he said.
Chief Conservator of Forest Praveen Raghav said many types of conflicts have arisen in the forests in present times.
“Deforestation can have serious effects on biodiversity,” said Raghav, while advising the new forest guards to discharge their duties with responsibility.
He explained the various points taught during the training period and requested the new employees to follow them strictly.
Earlier, Goa State Forest Research and Training Center Director and Dy Conservator of Forests Tejaswini Pusulari provided detailed information about the courses imparted during the six-month training period.
On the occasion, a tree plantation programme was undertaken in various parts of the centre.
