The Dabose Water Treatment Plant was shut down for two days on account of an 18-hour power outage, leading to water shortage in many villages of Sattari taluka on Wednesday and Thursday.
According to information, power supply was cut off for about 18 hours over a period of two days, leading to the shutting down of the Dabose Water Treatment Plant. As a result, water was not supplied to many villages in Sattari for two days.
The Water Treatment Plant finally received power supply but it took a long time for water supply to be restored to the affected villages.
Sources said strong winds in Sattari have led to constant power outages, which has affected power supply to the Dabose Water Treatment Plant. This has led to growing demands for a separate power line or a generator to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the Dabose Water Treatment Plant.
When contacted, Dabose Water Treatment Plant Assistant Engineer Prashant Gawde confirmed that power supply was cut off for about 18 hours in the last two days.
“The water treatment plant finally received power supply and resumed operations, but it took about eight hours for water supply to reach the affected areas. Water supply will reach all affected villages by Friday night,” said Gawde.
When asked about a power generator to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the Dabose Water Treatment Plant, Gawde said: “The health minister is following up in the matter. It is expected to cost around Rs 1.5 crore and it is likely to be set up in the near future.”
