Two brothers, both adults, were found dead in their apartment at Aquem-Margao on Wednesday evening.

Margao police has suspected the deaths of the two brothers, aged 27 and 29 years due to starvation. The exact cause behind the death of the two brothers will be known on Thursday after the post-mortem examination.

Incidentally, the mother of the two deceased brothers, who was rescued from the apartment by the police, was later referred to the South Goa district hospital as she too was found in a weak condition.

The Margao police requisitioned the services of the fire brigade to effect entry into the apartment located on the second floor of the building.

Margao Police Station in-charge, PI Tulsidas Naik told The Goan that the incident came to light when the father of the brothers, who is putting up at Khareband, visited the building, only to find the apartment closed. Suspecting foul play, the father informed the police to open the apartment door to gain entry, only to find the two brothers lying dead inside.

The Margao police is investigating how come the two brothers and mother did not consume food. “We have received information that the family did not take food some months ago. We are investigating into the matter,” PI Tulsidas said, that no food items, including rice was found inside the house.

He said the exact cause of the death will be known after the post-mortem examination scheduled on Thursday.
