Two persons were arrested in connection with an assault on a staffer at the petrol pump in Honda-Sattari on Sunday evening, after angry locals marched to the police station to demand the arrest of the accused.
According to information, some youths are alleged to have assaulted an employee at a petrol pump at Honda and fled after locals rushed in support of the employees.
Locals and pump employees then rushed to the Honda police post to demand the arrest of the accused.
As tension began to mount, a police team was rushed to Honda and Valpoi Police Inspector Prajyot Phadte tried to pacify the agitated locals and pump employees, who warned that they would not leave the police outpost till the accused were arrested.
Two persons were later arrested in this connection and were later taken to the Valpoi police station.
Locals warned that they would not tolerate people resorting to violence in Honda and insisted that the accused be brought back to the Honda police outpost.
When a large number of locals assembled at the Honda police outpost, Sattari Mamlatdar Kaushik Desai rushed to the spot and held talks with the agitating locals till Monday night.
