A video of two leopards moving on a hill behind the Ajoba Temple in Keri-Pernem went viral on social media, causing fear among residents in the area.

Taking note of the video, the forest department is monitoring the situation and an officer has appealed to locals not to panic but to remain cautious, assuring that arrangements have been made if the two leopards enter human settlements.

When contacted, Pernem forest officer Arjun Shetgaonkar said the leopards are currently in their natural habitat.

“There is no reason for residents to panic. If the leopards move towards human settlements or pose a safety threat, the forest department will take necessary action,” said Shetgaonkar.

He also informed that a cage has already been installed in the Arambol area and further measures will be taken after reviewing the situation.

He appealed to locals to alert the forest department if any leopard is seen in a human settlement.
