Two locals have filed a police complaint regarding the construction of a mud road, hill and tree cutting activity at Delem in Canacona town.
According to a police complaint filed by Shekhar Ganpat Naikgaunkar and Ajit V Naikgaunkar of Delem, about eight persons trespassed into their property in Delem and were involved in tree and hill cutting using a JCB.
“Since October 1, a JCB has been engaged in hill-cutting and felling of trees to construct a road. Following objections from the complainants, the work was stopped.”
“However, two days later, the accused persons trespassed into the property, engaged a JCB and forcefully completed the road, besides, abusing and threatening the complainants, who are the lawful owners of the property,” stated the complaint.
The complaint has also been forwarded to the Town and Country Planner, forest department and Canacona deputy collector.
