2 minors raped at Benaulim

In a shocking incident, two minor girls were believed to have been allegedly raped at the Benaulim beachside late last night.

The two victims are reported to have appeared before the Colva police station on Sunday evening after the accused allegedly tried to extort money from them by threatening to make viral the video of the incident.

In this connection, the Colva police have apprehended the four alleged accused persons and they are being interrogated.

While the police were reluctant to divulge the details, preliminary reports alleged that the two girls had gone out with their friends when the accused allegedly posed themselves as policemen. The duo’s male friends were beaten up by the accused.

As the incident was reported to the police higherups, district police Chief Pankaj Kumar Singh and Sub-divisional police Officer, DySP, Margao Harish Madkaikar, rushed to the Colva police station on Sunday evening. The duo was seen guiding and supervising the investigations into the incident.

Women’s rights activist Auda Viegas was also called to the police station to speak to the two minor victims.

While SP South Pankaj Kumar Singh left the police station at around 11 pm, DySP

Madkaikar was holed up at Colva police station till late in the night. Colva police sources informed that the police will register an offense of rape against the accused persons.

SP Pankaj said the police are investigating into the case. 

An offense of rape will be registered against the four accused later tonight, sources said.
