CANACONA
Two natives of Madhya Pradesh were arrested by Canacona police on Wednesday on charges of illegally possessing two SBBL guns and 10 live cartridges.
Addressing a news conference, Canacona Police Inspector Pravin Gawas said the two MP natives, Kamalsingh Ram Virendra Singh (42) and Virendra Vijaya Singh (43) were residing at a hotel in Patnem and could not justify their possession of the two SBBL guns. Both were then taken into custody for interrogation and an FIR has been lodged against them.
The two accused were reportedly brought to Goa by a security agency and were reportedly posted as security guards at a yoga resort in Patnem-Canacona.
“Holding guns and live cartridges without licences is a grave offence and those coming from other states with a valid gun licence should immediately inform the local police station,” said PI Gawas.
Canacona police has registered a case and will produce the two accused before a court for remand, PI Gawas added.
