The Save Old Goa Action Committee (SOGAC) submitted 20,000 objections to the CM’s office against unwanted projects in Old Goa and the implementation of the Master Plan for the UNESCO-famed former capital city.
The objections were submitted at the Secretariat in Porvorim on Friday.
Later, speaking to reporters, SOGAC member Freddy Dias informed that, in total, 35,000 objections have been submitted to the CM to date.
“We sought an appointment with the CM to discuss the issue, but we have not got one,” Dias replied when questioned whether the CM had responded to the issue.
SOGAC coordinator Peter Viegas then cited that 54 illegal structures have reportedly come up within the heritage zone of the UNESCO monuments.
“If a Master Plan is implemented in Old Goa, then no such illegalities will be allowed,” Viegas opined, adding that the UNESCO tag for Old Goa will be under threat if such illegalities are allowed to prosper.
