A total of 260 road accidents, averaging 8.66 cases per day, including 17 fatalities, were registered in October, details shared by the Directorate of Transport reveal.
Besides, 16 were grievous accidents, 47 minor accidents, and 180 non-injury incidents.
The breakdown revealed that North Goa registered 11 fatal accidents, 10 grievous accidents, 22 minor accidents, and 114 non-injury accidents, while South Goa reported six fatal accidents, six grievous accidents, 25 minor accidents, and 66 non-injury accidents.
Of the 17 who lost their lives in the accidents, 11 were riders (seven in North Goa, four in South Goa) and three pillion riders (all in North Goa).
Twenty-six victims sustained grievous injuries (19 in North Goa, seven in South Goa), and 78 suffered minor injuries (37 in North Goa, 41 in South Goa).
The Transport Directorate also issued 13,457 challans during the month for various traffic violations.
